He who was Spanish representative in Eurovision 2010, Daniel Diges, who this week launches a new disc with covers of the themes from the seventies, believes that in that era "the music was functioning so good, that it was much easier for any good song to triumph", as he said in the interview with Efe.

"Television started to extend, there were only one or two channels and there was more money to do a better production", thinks the singer and actor, who regrets that, now with Internet, come out "constantly many great songs of new people that, however, do not reach to be heard, and he says that is good and the bad side of the network."

With his album "¿Dónde estabas tú en los 70?" Diges vindicates an age which he didn't live, but which he enjoyed thanks to his parents, in a work where he versions thirteen emblematic compositions of that period, as "Help", made popular by Tony Ronald, "Eres tú", performed originally by Mocedades; or "Algo de mí" sung by Camilo Sesto.

The artist believes that the chosen repertoire, with "impressive ballads alternating with highly funky numbers" is "completely representative of such a wonderful era, very rich in lyricss and melodies, which has left very good memories and good shade."

"There was a problem that some songs have been covered many times, and it was decided that, instead of making a new interpretation, we fully respect the original arrangement, with some small changes," clarifies Diges, about his album which he describes as an "icing" on his career.

"Clearly it is an album intended for mothers, for people of 40 or 50 years," says the musician from Madrid who, however, believes that the album "may also reach those young people who didn't live through that era, it is - he considers - a great opportunity for them too in this regard."

"There are many supporters of my work in their thirties who are excited about the album," emphasizes the musician, who admits that his "great love" for the seventies was born from, among other things, his love of karaoke.

So that, he tells us, as a teenager, instead of "partying" like other people, he spent the "whole day" with his friends in the karaoke rooms, "singing songs like 'Cartas amarillas' and many others" he recalls.

Also he reminiscents that he had "always" had contact with that era thanks to his mother, who "was singing those songs all day long" and to his father, who, as he says, "in those years was an electrician and some famous bands, such as Los Brincos, were hiring him to mount their equipment; he even keeps proves of it."

Diges, which currently is performing in Barcelona with the musical "Los Miserables", hopes to be able to go on a tour with this disc next summer and admits that in future works he would like to address other decades, as the eighties, a period of which he considers himself a fan.

But the big dream of this actor and singer is "making films". And it is that Diges, as he reveals, began "in the theater with the intention to participate in movies," precisely an area in which he still hasn't intervened, having participated in numerous musicals and television series.

In particular, he wants to "intervene in a musical movie" and he would be "delighted" that Spanish plays like "Hoy no me puedo levantar" give a leap to the big screen. However, he does not forget that his career "right now is in the theater," even though he affirms that, if he doesn't fulfill his dream, will do all it takes to produce its own film in the future.
